The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
