The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
