The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
