The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
