The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
