The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
