The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
