The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
