The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
