The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
