The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And extended shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
