The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
