The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And shade extended 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
