The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
