The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 and raised couches 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
