The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 near to flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
