The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
