The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
