The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
