The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
