The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
