The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On lined couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the right. 38
