The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
