The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits abounding 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches; 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
