The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few of later ages, 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
