The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
