The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
