The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the right how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and shade extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38

Notes and Instructions

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
