The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and raised couches 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 So made them as maidens. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right hand; 38
