The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
