The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those of the right hand. 38
