The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
