The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and shade extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
