The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For those on the right. 38
