The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
