The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 and gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
