The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 on lavish couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
