The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 You will become three categories: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
