The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 So made them as maidens. 36 loving and of equal age. 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
