The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
