The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Who will be honoured 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a few from later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
