The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On studded thrones. 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
