The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a host of the ancients 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 on lavish couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And couches raised up. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
