The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
