The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
