The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And couches raised up. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
