The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 and gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
