The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
