The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
