A numerous company from among the first, 39 and a throng of the later folk. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 They will find themselves in scorching wind and scalding water, 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor pleasant. 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 And used to persist in the awful sin. 46 And they were wont to say: when we have died and become dust and bones, shall we, then, verily be raised? 47 (We) and our fore-fathers of yore?” 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 shall be gathered to the appointed time of a known day. 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and you shall fill therewith your bellies 53 And drinking on top of it from scalding water 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We! it is We Who created you: wherefore confess ye not? 57 Have you considered the seed? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 So what is your opinion regarding what you sow? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 "We are ruined, 66 Nay! we are deprived. 67 Have you considered the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you who grew its tree, or is it We Who create? 72 We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers, 73 (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
